Two 'green book' chapters updated
The consent and vaccine safety and adverse events chapters have recently been updated in the 'green book' (Immunisation against infectious disease)
UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) have published two updated chapters (2 and 8) in the 'green book' (Immunisation against infectious disease).
Chapter 2; Consent [1]
Key updates in this revised chapter include:
- Changes to the section on disagreement between parents and the role of Gillick competency in such situations.
Chapter 8; Vaccine safety and adverse events following immunisation [2]
Key updates in this revised chapter include:
- Updates to the WHO definitions of adverse events following immunisation
- Updates to immunisation error and vaccine adverse event sections
- New paragraphs defining anxiety related adverse events and vaccine product quality adverse events
- Changes to managing common vaccine-induced adverse events to include management of fever following (Bexsero) 4CMenB vaccine administration
- Changes to the section on thiomersal to clarify that this is no longer used in vaccines routinely administered to children
- New section on hypotonic-hyporesponsive episodes following vaccination
- Updates to the section on recognition and management of anaphylaxis
