Mpox in DRC
As of 1 October 2024, the World Health Organization have reported a total of 5,610 mpox cases with 25 deaths in 2024. Mpox clade Ia and Ib have been detected in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Mpox in Kenya
As of 2 October 2024, a total of 9 cases of mpox clade Ib have been reported.
Mpox in Burundi
As of 1 October 2024, a total of 853 clade Ib mpox cases have been reported in 2024. No mpox deaths have currently been reported for 2024.
Mpox in Uganda
As of 2 October 2024, the World Health Organization has reported a total of 51 mpox cases in 2024. Mpox clade Ib has been detected in Uganda. No deaths have been reported for 2024.
Mpox in Rwanda
As of 1 September 2024, a total of six clade Ib mpox cases have been reported in 2024. No mpox deaths have currently been reported for 2024.
Mpox in Congo
Between 9 January and 25 August 2024, 21 confirmed and 155 suspected clade I mpox have been reported.
Mpox in Thailand
On 22 August 2024, clade Ib mpox was confirmed in a traveller who returned to Thailand from an African country experiencing a mpox outbreak on 14 August 2024.
Mpox in Central African Republic
Since the beginning of 2024 and up to 16 August, a total of 263 cases (40 confirmed) have been reported. Of the confirmed cases, 43 percent have been in children under the age of 15 years. Clade I mpox has been isolated from confirmed cases.
Mpox in Sweden ex Africa
As of 15 August 2024, a case of mpox clade I has been reported in a returned traveller in Stockholm. This is the first mpox clade I case reported outside the African continent. This traveller visited a region of Africa reporting a major outbreak of mpox clade I.
