On 2 October 2024, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health reported a locally acquired dengue case in a resident of El Monte. The case had no history of travel to areas where dengue is endemic. It is the fifth case of locally acquired dengue in Los Angeles County in 2024.

On 9 September 2024, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health reported a locally acquired dengue case in a resident of Baldwin Park. The case had no history of travel to areas where dengue is endemic. It is the third case of locally acquired dengue in California and the first reported by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

As of 1 November 2023 a case of locally acquired dengue has been reported in Long Beach. This is the second case reported in California, the first was identified in October 2023 in Pasadena. The Health Department is taking steps to prevent further spread of the virus that causes dengue.
