As of 14 February 2024, a total of 69 confirmed cases of Western equine encephalitis, with seven deaths, have been confirmed since the first human case on 20 December 2023. A total of 21 probable human cases have also been reported.

Between 25 November 2023 and 5 February 2024, there have been 1,419 cases of Western equine encephalitis in animals and 56 cases in humans. Cases have been reported in 20 provinces.
Western equine encephalitis in Argentina
As of 20 December 2023, a confirmed human case of Western equine encephalitis was reported in Sante Fe province. This is the first human case reported in more than two decades, with last detection in 1996. Recent outbreaks in horses have been reported in 15 provinces of Argentina, including Santa Fe.
